Accommodation classification system
Star rating description
Caribbean accommodations that meet the basic standards will be appointed one star. By meeting higher standards of quality (optional standards) an accommodation will be appointed up to five stars.
Acceptable — Being appointed one star means obtaining the basis level. An accommodation with a basis level can be expected to be simple but well-cleaned and well-maintained. The accommodation offers amenities of an acceptable level to guarantee a good stay.

Fine — On the two-star level one can expect a fine "middle-class" accommodation. In this two-star accommodation one can find clearly better amenities, service and quality than an accommodation of the basis level has to offer.

Comfortable — This level offers an above average quality. The accommodation has, for example, a more comfortable feel and is more conveniently arranged than is the case for a "middle-class" accommodation. The different rooms offer an above average level of quality and extra service and amenities are offered.

Exceptional — A five-star accommodation is a top level one. This accommodation is not only impeccably decorated, just as the four-star accommodation, but little extras have been added. Every effort is made to make sure the consumer has a fantastic stay. Not only the amenities, service and quality of the accommodation are taken into account, but everything is seen in a broader view. The consumer shall want for nothing and will be treated as a VIP in an accommodation of this exceptional level.
Responsible — The Caribbean Style Ecolabel stands for quality and warranted entrepreneurship.
The ecolabel is appointed to accommodations that also meet the standards for sustainable tourism next to the basic requirements for quality.
The focus in this is all about a balance between making a profit and the preservation of local nature and culture.

Couleur locale
The level of quality of accommodations may differ from country to country.
In assessing the accommodations we have taken into account the so-called "couleur locale".
This means that the local standard has been taken as a starting point and that there may be small differences between the standards in your country and the ones in the area of choice.
However, there are also differences between the individual islands. It is very well possible that the supply of luxurious accommodations on the one island is far greater than the supply on the other. On the other hand, on some islands there is a greater supply in more simple accommodations. As you can see, every island has its own characteristic local situation and every individual island offers something for anyone!
